Dear John,
I would like to further add to Trashbin Cat's letter on the ANZACs.
My husband John was the preacher at our church on Sunday morning 25th April, and before he started, he told the congregation a little about Anzac Day. There a quite a few Americans attending our church. They are here in New Zealand as Missionaries in the Lord's Work, and are greatly appreciated. We knew they wouldn't know what al the fuss was about, so this is what John said:-

He told them about ANZAC and how it stands for the Australian, New Zealand Army Corps.

He told of the fact that on 25th April in 1915, our troops stormed Gallipoli, and lost 2,721 people, plus all the ones that died later. The Aussies lost about 9,000 or more.

The war went on for 8 months and the Turks lost 86,000, and they finally got to an impasse, so on 18th Dec. 1915 they called it quits. Nobody had any more fight  left in them!

People today say that it was a waste of time, but the very next year, a young Jew offered the British, the recipe for easily made, very effective explosives, in exchange for a Jewish homeland in Palestine which had been ‘ruled’ by the Turks for 400 years.  After the Balfour Declaration, stating that Britain was giving Palestine to the Jews, General Allenby apparently prayed about it, and the British went in and took Jerusalem over without a shot being fired!!  So the Gallipoli campaign was NOT  in vain.  It got the land of Israel ready for the Jews, BUT the Jews didn’t really want to give up their profitable businesses in Russia and Poland and other places, so the 2nd World War was brought about -(by God using Hitler’s greed and hate) to make the Jews READY for their land.

 After Hitler had done his filthy work, the remaining ones were GLAD to have a safe place of their own to go back to!

Bible Prophecy was being fulfilled, - and since then, lots of other things have happened in the line of prophecy, to tell us that we are indeed in the last days before the Lord comes back to collect his Church, then He’ll bring terrible tribulation and wrath on those who are left, -FOR HAVING NEGLECTED THE GREAT SALVATION THAT HE OFFERED,- then after another 7 years, He personally will come to reign over the Whole Earth and things will be rigidly and fairly ruled by a dictator who will be the Righteous Judge. There will be no such thing as ‘democracy’ when Christ comes to rule!!
 

    By the way, it was amazing just how many of our own N.Z. congregation didn't know much of the above.
