"SEVEN HEADS OF THE BEAST
& SEVEN KINGS"
Pastor Riley,
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my last
two questions about the 7 heads and 10 horns of the Beast. When I
first read your 4/04 post called The Antichrist Is Ready…..Right On
Schedule at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/apr2005/fmriley44.htm
about the possibility of the 7 heads of the Beast being the 7 branches
of Catholicism, that is the first time that I have heard of that particular
possibility.
However, I do have another question for you. about the
7 heads of the Beast. If the 7 heads of the Beast are possibly the 7 branches
of Catholicism as you suggest, then how would you explain the following
verses:
Revelation 17:9-11 says, "And here is the mind which
hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman
sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is,
and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short
space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth,
and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition."
Are the 7 heads which are seven mountains in verse 9
also the same as the seven kings in verse 10? And who are the seven
kings: five kings that are fallen, and the one who is, and who is the other
who is not yet come, and what are their names? And how can the beast
that was and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven?
I have heard these Bible verses being interpretted as the 7 heads or seven
mountains representing kingdoms or empires that controlled Israel.
However, if the 7 heads of the Beast are possibly the 7 branches of Catholicism,
then the 7 kings: five of which are fallen, one is, and the other yet to
come, couldn't be the same as the 7 heads if they are the 7 branches of
Catholicism, could they because I don't know of 5 branches of Catholicism
that fell, and one that is, and another is yet to come? So if the
7 branches of Catholicism are possibly the 7 heads of the Beast in verse
9 that are the 7 mountains, it doesn't look like they could be the 7 kings
in verse 10. So I would interested in knowing how you interpret these
difficult verses which are hard to understand. Thanks for your help.
God bless you,
Donna
