Dear Donna,
My view is that the white horse in Rev. 6:2 and the white horse in Rev. 19: 11 are NOT related.
Revelation, chapter 6 speaks about the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.
Revelation, chapter 19 speaks about Christ’s return to judge the nations.
It is interesting that both riders are on a white horse, but that is where the similarities end.
The white horse in chapter 6 has a rider known as “the conqueror”. He is a leader because he wears a crown on his head. He carries a bow signifying military strength, but no arrows meaning he conquers without using force (perhaps alluding to a political victory). He is a powerful leader and can (and later will!) use force to defeat his enemies at will (because he has power over part of the earth to do so). He is part of the events during the early tribulation, so he must be a ruler during the tribulation. I submit to you that this horsemen represents the antichrist. Look at the other horsemen he rides with:
2nd horsemen: the destroyer of peace riding on a red horse
3rd horsemen: famine riding on a black horse
4th horsemen: death riding on a pale(decaying or dead) horse, with hell behind him.
All of these horsemen involve what happens when an evil dictator comes to power: he conquerors or takes control of power, he makes war, he creates famine and refugees, and then he creates ruin and death.
I would have a hard time placing the first horsemen as a representation of Christ when the other horsemen involve killing, starving, death, and destruction. Besides, Christ returns near the end of the tribulation on a white horse, with the armies of G-D, to destroy the armies at the valley of meggido. The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse occur towards the beginning of the tribulation. They are part of the Seal judgments, which is to say they are the beginning judgements of the tribulation.
Yours in Christ, Tracy K.
