Donna, Thanks for the post. Just a few thoughts for your consideration. Hi,I am just going to throw this out there for consideration. I really need a prophecy partner to bat this around with, but since I don't have one, I guess I will use the Doves....O.K?
Maybe the "Great Tribulation" starts immediately after Daniel's 70th week. Seal 6 is the beginning of God's wrath, and the sealing of the 144,000. Does this indicate that the 144,000 have come to Christ? They will be protected during the time of God's wrath, so maybe the 70th week has accomplished it's purpose. It is my understanding the God's wrath is for the unbeliever, so why would His wrath be visited upon Israel before God is through dealing with them, and before the 70th week is complete? If judgment begins at the house of God, then why should the Church - who is the temple of the living God - be exempt from accountability. The Bible says that Israel will be dealt judgment in the amount of a double portion for their shortcomings - sins (Isa. 40:2). The Word also says, where their has been more light given, there is more responsibility, and more accountability. How much more light has the Church been given??? And what has she done with that light???? She has been given more light than Israel ever had. To think that we shall no be accountable would be inconsistent with Scripture. Are we not told, we shall give an account of what we have done with the talents He has given us (Matt. 25)?
This way, Jacob's trouble could have started in 2000, and when it is over, the great trib starts. That would leave plenty of time for the things that take 3 1/2 years to take place. I would guess they (all of the different 3 1/2 year periods) could run at the same time. Some people have said 2012 as the final year, and this would fit in that time period. My dear sister, we have not even begun to see the true meaning of Jacob's trouble. From 1938 to 1945, Hitler exterminated 6 million of this people. When the Antichrist breaks covenant with them, there will be a slaughter such as the world has never seen. That will begin the worst of the time known as "Jacob's trouble". To understand what the world will be like in the great tribulation, perhaps this might help: At present, there are 6 billion plus people in the world. Biblical scholars have calculated that over the course of the events spoken of in revelation, conservatively speaking, about two-thirds of the earth population will be annihilated within that seven year period. A better term for it might be, "HELL ON EARTH." I believe it is Isaiah that mentions, the earth will not be densely populated going into the millennium. Most of the population will have either been killed via the bowls of wrath that are poured out, or through Armageddon, and the war against Christ. Of those left on the earth after Christ's victory, these shall be separated into two groups - either sheep (those worthy to enter into the millennium) or goats (those not worthy) (Matt. 25:31-33).
BTW, does any one have an explanation as to why the Bible lists these different time periods differently? Such as: days, sometimes, months, and sometimes years? There are specific reasons why each are used. Each would require an independent explanation considering the context. And that would become rather tedious and cumbersome for this post. And yet, to give you a better idea of why one might be used over another, here's one example: Why use days??? A few years ago, there was a movie called "CASTAWAY," with Tom Hanks. Each and every day he was on that deserted island, without all the comforts we are so fond of and have become used to, became a torturous ordeal. And so it will be, for those found on the earth, who will have to endure the coming days. It will be a time when men will wish to see death, but they will not find it (Rev. 9:6). What I do find interesting: Most in the church take the convenient path - a pretrib rapture. Yet, there have been numerous saints of the past, known to have had a deep walk with the Lord, who held a different view. For example, Corrie Ten-Boom was a post tribber, as well as George Muller. Hudson Taylor, Jessie Penn-Lewis, and Watchman Nee believed in a split rapture. I grant, it would be nice if those who are so bold to teach such an easy out are correct. However! If Christians are not taken out before things get really hot, then having been told and believed the wrong thing, they will surely be ill prepared to cope with each and every day of enduring what "life" will be like, when evil has full sway on the earth.
