Special Report: The Mouthpiece
by Jack Kinsella
"And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and
blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two
months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His
Name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. " (Revelation
13:5-6)The Bible says that during the seven-year Tribulation Period, a political
leader will emerge from the ashes of the Roman Empire, seize control of
the reigns of global power, and then use that power to unleash a
world-wide persecution of Christians and Jews that will result in the
deaths of millions. For most of my lifetime, the whole idea sounded preposterous. The world,
at the time I entered it, had just emerged victorious from having
vanquished just such a foe.Indeed, during the Second World War, there were plenty of books sold
naming Adolph Hitler as the antichrist and Italian dictator Benito
Mussolini as his false prophet, so closely did the Axis resemble
Revelation's picture of the unholy alliance. But Hitler wasn't the antichrist. He persecuted the Jews, but the Bible
says that, under the real antichrist, he will persecute the Jews of
Israel, who will inhabit Jerusalem. And Hitler tried to seize control of the whole world. The Bible says that
the antichrist will have it handed to him, just as Germany handed control
of itself over to Hitler.Hitler didn't control the global propaganda machine, just the one in
Germany. Still, propaganda proved its power. In a single generation,
Hitler was able to transform the most cultured nation in Europe into a
nation of bloodthirsty murderers. In a single generation, German Jews went from being treasured members of
the German population to subhumans deemed fit only for fertilizer. The German propaganda machine was directly responsible for the murders of
at least twelve million Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, mental patients and others
deemed unfit to live.Next door, Josef Stalin's propaganda machine convinced the Russian people
to murder some fifty million of their own, for one reason or another.Russian propaganda was, to Western ears, laughable. But until the Berlin
Wall collapsed, the average Russian believed that Russia invented
everything worth having, and whatever the West had, we stole the designs
from them.Assessment:
Control is power. Absolute control is absolute power. And absolute power
corrupts absolutely. These are undeniable equations that have been proved
to be true in every generation in history. That is what makes propaganda
so deadly.Whoever controls what you see and hear and are told controls what you
think. It sounds like a lead-in to the Twilight Zone (I can almost hear
Rod Serling in my head as I type), but it is as true today as at any time
in previous history. For the past two decades, control of the media has been centralizing
itself until today, most of what we see, hear and think is controlled by
seven global media conglomerates, who between them, control the major US
television networks and the majority of America's newspapers. (See
footnote)Propaganda in and of itself can be benign, or it can be malignant.
Propaganda campaigns can change the public's mind about smoking, drunk
driving, wearing seatbelts or domestic violence, and studies prove that
they have.Such campaigns wear no disguise, they are generally called 'Public
Service Announcements' and the public understands the purpose behind them. But when a propaganda campaign is disguised as impartial news, that is a
malignancy that history pronounces a terminal disease. The fact that the major media is now openly manipulating the news to
advance a particular political propaganda is an open secret. Nobody is
shocked anymore that the New York Times is spinning the news to advance
its own political agenda. We've come to accept it -- in fact, we've come
to EXPECT it.To get the liberal spin on the news, read the New York Times. For the
conservative spin, turn to the Washington Times.Whether liberal spin or conservative spin, its still all spin. 'Spin' is
the new politically correct term for propaganda, but to paraphrase the
Bard; 'A rose by any other name still smells'. And a spin doctor smells
just like a propagandist. On NBC's Today Show, Katie Couric asked Jimmy Carter a question that would
have made Nazi Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels green with envy:"President Carter, as perhaps our country's most revered ex-President,
your words carry a lot of moral weight. Surely everyone noticed when you
told reporters recently that President Bush's war on Iraq was based on a
campaign of quote, 'lies and misinterpretations.' How many lies do you
think the President told to drag us into war?... I mean, were they little
white lies or really gigantic whoppers?...Does this button sum it all up
for you, 'Bush Lied, People Died'?"Do you think it might be possible to discern Couric's political affliation
from that question? How could anyone subsequently trust her for straight
information about anything being done by the current government? What political message did CBS's Ed Bradley weave into this question to
National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice?"Dr. Rice, everyone knows the Bush administration and far right-wing have
a stranglehold on the news media. Is that why you'll talk to 60 Minutes
and other news programs, while you steadfastly refuse to appear before the
9/11 commission?"Let's dissect it. By implication, no matter how negative the news coverage
is of the Bush administration, the real truth is much worse, but you don't
know how much worse, because "the Bush administration and far right-wing
have a stranglehold on the news media."Wow! Do you see how it works?
Inherent in the 'question' is the presumed statement of 'fact' that the
Bush administration has a lid on damaging news leaks. No matter how Dr.
Rice replies, it is a variation of the question, "Sooo. . . do you still
beat your wife?"And no matter how damaging to the current administration the 'news'
reports might be, the thought is subliminally implanted that the truth is
really much worse. On the allegedly 'authoritative' political news program, 'Face the Nation'
(also CBS) Bob Schieffer set up Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld with the
'question':"I've heard some say that Richard Clarke provided a beacon of love to the
9/11 families with his apology last week, while you and President Bush
have simply caused heartbreak and distress with a jingoistic foreign
policy that has only angered the world. It seems to me this might be a
good time for you to apologize to the French and Germans. After all, they'
ve been proven prophetic, haven't they, by the quagmire we're seeing in
Iraq?"Look at the implied 'facts' in that alleged 'question'. Richard Clarke is
a 'beacon of love' shining against Bush's 'heartbreak and distress' as a
consequence of Bush's 'jingoistic' foreign policy. It is Bush's 'jingoism' (and not negative media propaganda) responsible
for global anger at the US. The French and the Germans were right. And
Iraq is a 'quagmire'.The only question in there that I can find is, 'should we apologize to the
French' for opposing the Iraq war? And the answer to that is found in
Saddam's book of payoffs to French officials, so there really isn't any
question in there at all.Just political propaganda designed to spin opinion into 'fact'.
In his 'Closer Look' segment on ABC News, Peter Jennings took a page right
from 'Mein Kampf', disguising his poisoned message as a piece of candy.
Here's the exchange, as recorded by the folks at the Media Research
Center:Peter Jennings: "Tonight we take A Closer Look at feelings of oppression.
Na'eem Yassin came to the United States seven months ago....The hardest
day for her, she says, was when she sat in the immigration office waiting
to meet with her case officer."Na'eem Yassin: "I saw the picture of Bush on the wall, and I got scared. I
love America, you know, but I am very scared of Mr. Bush. He is a
warmonger."Jennings: "Just a few years ago, the United States was one of the most
admired nations on earth. Now, after nearly three years of unceasing war
against Muslims, it is one of the most despised. Na'eem is hardly alone -
many newcomers say they feel uneasy when they visit our government's
buildings only to be confronted by symbols of American hegemony such as
that presidential portrait on the wall. Belatedly, the ACLU has begun a
legal drive to rid U.S. government offices of such oppressive symbols."How long did it take you to make the not-so-subliminal connection that a
PICTURE of George W. Bush is a 'symbol of American hegemony' that innocent
folks like Yassin find 'oppressive' enough to warrant removal from US
government offices?(Hegemony: A term to describe how the domination of one class over others
is achieved by a combination of political and ideological means)Can you detect who Peter Jennings will be voting for in November?
Here's the point. Right now, it is clear who the major media is favoring
for the next election. I haven't even had to point out specifics. And
these are SUPPOSED to be impartial sources for unbiased news so that each
American can make up his or her own mind. But that is right now. And I don't think that the antichrist is in this
race. Let me make that clear. (Although the media seems to think he is,
and are supporting the other guy)What the Bible says is that when he does come to power, it will be handed
to him. He will be a master of propaganda, one with 'a mouth speaking
great things and a look more stout than his fellows', as Daniel describes
him in Daniel 7:20. John said his propaganda machine will touch 'all
kindreds, and tongues, and nations' (Revelation 13:7).This wasn't possible in Daniel's day, or John's day, or even the day I
first came to this earth, as the ashes of Adolph Hitler's failed effort
still smouldered in Europe. But in a single generation, the old Roman Empire was revived as a viable,
democratic, multinational framework for a coming global government.
Israel has taken her place among the nations of the world for the first
time in two thousand years. There is, in place, a functioning, centralized global economic system,
also for the first time in history, and at the precise moment in history
as revived Rome. The world is currently embroiled in a religious war involving
Christianity, Judaism and Islam, accelerating global demand for a kinder,
gentler, more inclusive global religion that will isolate fundamentalists
of all faiths, setting the stage for the centralized, one-world religious
system necessary for the overall Plan.Such a plan would have been laughed out of existence two decades ago. Now
it is gaining world-wide acceptance as an antidote for religious
'extremism'. There is even a UN Council dedicated to bringing it into
existence. At the same time that all this is coming together in a single generation
(none of this was possible when I was born) the media propaganda machine
that has been steadily concentrating itself into a single voice, has come
out of the closet, so to speak, no longer fearing exposure, since they've
already been exposed and nobody really cared.Ten years ago, all that is taking place was so murky and undeveloped that
Christians who believed in end times' prophecy were marginalized as being
'a bit looney' in most churches.Things have changed. Too many things have come to pass that mirror the
description of the last days for the world to ignore. Bible prophecy
(albeit secular and sensationalized) is now a regularly featured topic on
everything from the Discovery Channel to the box office.Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ" broke box office records,
and set in motion a bitter debate that continues to divide Christianity
internally, while driving a deeper wedge between organized Christianity
and Judaism, while setting the stage for the eventual persecution of both."And He spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer
is now nigh at hand. When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own
selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these
things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.""Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be
fulfilled." (Luke 21:29-32)
