The ACLU and Planned Parenthood

Dear friends:

The phrase "civil liberties" does not always mean civil liberties, and "planned" does not always mean planned.  The devil uses human words and terminology to disguise his work.  The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Planned Parenthood are cases in point.

The ACLU was founded in the early 20th century by a man named Roger Baldwin.

Born in Boston in 1884, Baldwin would come under early communist and socialist influence.  In 1935, he wrote, "I am for socialism… I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class… communism is, of course, the goal."

When Baldwin founded the ACLU, he made no pretense that his view of "civil liberties" was different from that of most people who equate it with our constitutional guarantees.  Baldwin said, "Civil liberties, like democracy, are useful only as tools for social change.  Political democracy as such a tool is obviously bankrupt."

The ACLU built a reputation defending communist and anarchist groups under the banner of civil liberties.  In recent years, they have been systematically attacking religious freedoms by hand-picking their cases to appear before leftist-leaning federal judges, whom they sometimes helped get appointed so they could set legal precedent.  The cases are often a sham, such as one in Connecticut where the ACLU imported an outsider, not even a tax-paying citizen of the local community, to file a suit against a Christmas manger scene on city property.  The complainant did his work and left town, as quickly as he came, after challenging the religious tradition and freedom of the citizens.

With rare exceptions, the ACLU battles against biblical Christianity, traditional values, and the religious freedom of Americans.  They also battle against laws that protect citizens and maintain order, and in favor of criminals and traitors.  The ACLU is a rich, ultra-liberal organization with many sympathizers who are judges, lawyers, and politicians.

Battling the ACLU are many Christian legal defense groups and attorneys.  In the early 1990s, a special Christian umbrella organization was formed to counter the ACLU.  It is called the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), which was founded by several Christian leaders.  See http://www.alliancedefensefund.org/.  The ADF is an alliance, or coalition, of most of the Christian legal defense groups and individual attorneys.  Its work against the ACLU has been like David and Goliath, but the ADF has had many court victories over the ACLU, including victories before the U.S. Supreme Court.  I was privileged to have been a member of the ADF board of directors for a couple of years in the 1990s.

Please pray for the ADF, and if you feel led, support it.  See Web site.

Another popular, liberal, anti-Christian organization with a deceptive, benign name is Planned Parenthood, whose founder was a racist named Margaret Sanger.  Sanger remains a controversial figure, even decades after her death.  Research shows that her widely published views as proof that her vision of "birth control" was really an attempt to limit the elements of the population she considered undesirable -- racial minorities and others she labeled "feeble-minded."   Planned Parenthood is in the forefront of defending and promoting the brutal murder of unborn babies, a modern holocaust of a proportion unparalleled in all history.  Thanks to Planned Parenthood and their sympathizers, there have been over 40 million babies murdered since Roe v. Wade in the 1970s.  See http://www.respectlife.org/educatio/pp.htm and numerous other sites (Google: "Planned Parenthood exposed.")
