"A CHRISTIAN CAN'T WALK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE AT THE SAME TIME"

Dear John & Doves,

I was reading Episcopal Bishop Mark Sisk's message at http://eny.dioceseny.org/bpmessage.html in regards to civil marriages or civil unions by the State for homosexuals and homosexual marriages by the church.  And he ends his message with the following statement that "Consequently, a Christian might believe that the State ought to sanction same-sex marriages but withhold judgment on the advisability of the Church doing so. That is what I believe."

When I read this, the Bible verse that came to mind was 1 Kings 18:21 which says, "And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal be God, then follow him.  And the people answered him not a word."  In other words if homosexuality is a sin, then follow God, and don't believe that the State nor the Church should sanction homosexual marriages.  If homosexuality isn't a sin, then follow Baal (Satan), and believe that the State and the Church should sanction homosexual marriages; but don't halt and be divided on the subject and have two opinions because it's either a sin or it's not.  And since we know that homosexuality is a sin according to the Bible scriptures in Lev. 18:22, 20:13, Deut. 23:17, Romans 1:26-28, 1 Timothy 1:10, 1 Corin. 6:9, 2 Peter 2:6-8, and Jude 1:7, then a Christian shouldn't believe that either the State or the Church can sanction homosexual marriages.  No Christian should be sitting on the fence dangling a foot on both sides of the fence nor can he walk on both sides of the fence at the same time.  Either walk with God by walking in the Spirit and follow the Holy Spirit, or walk in the flesh and walk with Satan.

God bless,

Donna
