"REPLY TO JOE HOYLE'S 3-D
VIEWPOINT -- THE ARMIES THAT ACCOMPANY JESUS"
Hi Joe,
I just thought I would
point out that Zechariah 14 shows Jesus standing on the Mount of Olives
at his second coming to "fight against those nations, as when he fought
in the day of battle," and verse 5 says, "...and the Lord my God shall
come, and all the saints with thee." All the saints are definitely
with him at his return.
Could the armies that
are with Jesus when he returns that are mentioned in Rev. 19:14 be both
the army of all his saints and the army of all his angels? Don't
forget that Jesus said to Satan in Matthew 26:53, "Thinkest thou that I
cannot pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve
legions of angels?" The Merriam Webster Dictionary that I have says
that a legion was "a unit of the Roman army comprising 3,000 to 6,000 men."
It also can mean "a multitude." Rev. 5:11 also says, "And I beheld,
and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne
and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand
times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;" If this number
is referring to the number of the angels round about the throne and the
beasts and the elders, then ten thousand times ten thousand is 100 million
angels plus thousands of thousands of more angels. That sounds like
a very huge army of angels who could accompany our Lord Jesus and his army
of saints to Earth. Psalm 68:17 also says, "The chariots of God are
twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in
Sinai, in the holy place."
As for the armies of
Rev. 19:14 that accompany Jesus who are clothed in fine linen, white and
clean, Rev. 19:8 shows us that the Lamb's wife wears the fine linen,
clean and white. However, Rev. 15:7 also shows the 7 angels clothed
in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Even the Jewish high priest had to wear white linen garments on the Day
of Atonement. If all the army of holy angels in heaven wear pure
and white linen and all the army of saints with Jesus wear clean and white
linen as well, perhaps the armies mentioned in Rev. 19:14 are composed
of both holy angels and all the saints. Just a possibility for everyone
to consider since Jesus says in Matthew 24:29-31, "Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall
not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers
of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son
of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and
they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power
and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound
of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds,
from one end of heaven to the other." Jesus also says in Matthew
25:31, "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and
all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne in
his glory:" This takes place at his second coming to Earth when he
gathers the nations and divides the sheep from the goats, and the goats
are told to depart into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and
his angels. The holy angels aren't directly referred to as an army
of angels in this verse, but all the holy angels do sound like an army
or host of angels that accompany Jesus. Of course, Jesus wouldn't need
a horse to ride on and neither would an angel with wings nor would a saint
who had an immortal body. However, riding on a horse would be symbolic
of being in an army's horse cavalry. Jesus riding a white horse would also
be symbolic of his being a victor and conqueror over death that was defeated
by him. Jesus says in Rev. 1:18, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and
behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of
death." (Now if Jesus wants to ride a white horse down from heaven
and have all his armies ride white horses as well, then that's what they'll
do.)
God bless,
