The post by Frank R Molver (24 Apr 2004) "Iraq moral irony" prompts me to
share what I've sent to a friend who has sons possibly heading to Iraq.  She
wants to hear that the USA will have victory.  Here is how I responded.  (I'm
not a history scholar so am ready to have what I write regarding HISTORY
corrected.)

In about 800AD Islam (begun around 660AD) had gotten strong enough that
the followers tried to take over civilizations even in Europe, having already
conqured North Aftrica, Spain, and the middle east.

Islam was halted at that time, but just barely!, and until WWII was struggling
along.  Then teaming up with Hitler it began strengthening again.  Islam is
now in EVERY nation of the world.  Consider all the "sleeper-cells" within
just this country alone who are waiting for their "call"!  A community in MI
now has to hear the "call-to-prayer" over the traditional loud-speaker five
times a day, just like in the middle eastern Islamic countries.  Ah, but we
are a democracy, right?  Islam is a peaceful religion according to our
government.

We have a friend in MN who is Muslim.  Married to a gal from his home country
Bangladesh.  He keeps the "laws" of Islam - fasts, feasts, good deeds, etc..
He is very nice to us.  But he has not, in the years he has lived here in the
USA, rejected Islam as a life-style.  And IF he were forced to decide for
helping us or supporting an order from his religion to harm us, I would have
to fear his decision.

When the twin towers were destroyed, it was claimed to be the work of OBL.
And in the months that followed 9-11 the non-response of the USA was building
to an expectation of a real show of action! ... and ... then ... this
president declared war ... on SH in Iraq?!?!  Excuse me, what about OBL?!

Ah but we don't have a draft.  And those who are sent to fight are those who
have volunteered, thereby willingly placing their lives under the control of
the military and the decisions it makes, thinking they are serving an
honorable entity.  But are they?

This country was started as a Federal Republic.  The religious base was
protestant.  I don't know when exactly but I know by the time I was in public
school we were taught this country was ... a demoncracy?!  I have come to
understand just how dangerous demoncracy is!  Just think how this means not
rule/governance by unmovable pillars of law ... but rather by whatever the
"citizenry" decides should be the law.  To me this is a very frightening
prospect ... and now YHVH has been pushed aside to share this country with
the pope, athiests, panthiests, hindus, muslims, scientologists, you name it!
what will the "citizens" decide is law?

How can I see the USA as an entity having special protection from The Father
anymore? with Abortion, pornography, homosexuality, adultery, common and
accepted ... and this among those who claim to be Christian!

Ah democracy in Iraq.  Hello! ... reality check!  In a strong hold of Islam,
with many Islamic franchises???  A democracy proposal flies in the face of
Islamic reality.  In the wars/conflicts the USA has had so far, fighting
Islam was not one of them until ... helping Islam fight the Christians in
Bosnia ... and then ... changing sides and fighting against Islam in
Afganistan, Gulf I, and now Gulf II against SH who they helped in the past!
I honestly can't see victory in this.

The secular also thinks money/consumerism coming from democracy will fix
everything.  But will that influnence the religious Islamic fanatics?!  I
don't think so.

Sadly there is no exit strategey for the USA.  All proposals are involved with
Iraq becoming "democratic".  I think a saying about that happening when a
very hot place freezes over would be appropriate here.  Now of course
miracles can always happen by The Hand of The Father but the conditions for
such deliverance always serve His Purpose.

Psalm 127:1.  Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build
it:  Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain."  I
see the LORD being thrown out all around this country.  The result of all the
building and the watching then is going to be labor/watching in vain.

Every day our family does pray for protection of those who are in harms way
and call out to Yeshua.  We ourselves seek to walk in openess before The
Father, clinging tightly to the promises Yeshua made to us about Him being
our Righteousness.

I do see terrible times for any who are not anchored in Yeshua, be they in
"peace" or in "war".  And the flip-side of that terrible situation is what it
says in Psalm 91 about those who declare Yeshua?YHVH to be their Saviour.
They will be safe even in "war"!
