"Bobby's two dreams"

Bobby's two dreams

I had a visit with Bobby after posting what I did on Thursday.
http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/apr2004/calvinm48.htm

He is still VERY MUCH an agnostic but is, at least, very friendly
about it.  He just can't believe, he says, having seen all of the
documentaries on TV concerning the Bible, the miracles, etc.
which just seem to explain things away / intellectualize things.
He believes that we are just highly developed animals.

Anyway...I asked him specifically about the dream / dreams
and he clarified.  I think that they are interesting having been
given to a PROFESSING agnostic.

A few years ago Bobby was working for a town in the Mississippi Delta.
The day before he had this dream, while he was at work, I believe he
said that there had been a hole in a street or somewhere he was
working.  That night he had a dream and there was a manhole cover
and the mayor of the town was standing there beside it.  When they
removed the cover, he looked down below into the hole and there
stood Jesus' disciples around a pit in the earth.  Inside the pit was
a broken stone image of Jesus.  He mentioned that Peter or John
(he wasn't sure which one) had spoken to him and told him that if he
didn't believe on Jesus, he was destined to go to Hell.  They offered
him a piece of stone.

About a year ago, Bobby was in the hospital after a bout with congestive
heart failure and he was sitting in a chair in his room.  He asked God
that, if He were real, would He give him a sign to help him believe.  He
drifted off and saw Jesus coming to him on a cloud.  As the cloud
passed over him, it rained on him.  When he woke up, he was as wet
as if he had been outside in a rain and he had NO pain.

Bobby will be 70 this year.  He has a Good News Bible which I gave to
him about 20+ years ago.  I hope that he will read it for himself and it will
build faith for him to believe!!!
