Dear John, Ted, Dave and DovesTED PORTER (6 Apr) and DAVE CAMP (10 Apr) 1260, 1290, and 1335
Some observations on the numbers mentioned in your posts…
1. The 1290 and 1335 numbers in Daniel 12:11 and 12 are linked numbers, not only by their context, but also by their proximity to one another. These are concurrently running numbers. One extends further than the other. They have to do with the interval of time between the taking away of the "daily" and the "setting-up" of the abomination", followed by "a blessing" to be received by those who wait and come to the 1335th day from the beginning of the period under review. That is the only context in which these numbers appear.
2. I have not been able to find a reference to 1260 days anywhere in Daniel.
- In Chapter 7:25 there is a reference to time, times and half a time - the context is that the little horn "that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows" should speak "great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High", etc. for a rough period of 3 and a half "times" - years? This could posssibly also be 3 and a half days.
3. We need to be very careful and diligent that we do not add things to scripture that are not there. When it comes to the book of Revelation, we are specifically warned about "adding to" or "taking away".
- This gives me hope that this "period of time" is not fixed in God's Calendar. Perhaps, like Nineveh, the world might repent after the "transfiguration" and ministry of the "annointed firstfruits", and this time could be shortened and judgement deferred in the 2nd half of the Tribulation. As the scripture teaches, God's justice is always tempered with mercy. We have but to call on Him, turn away from our sin, and come to Him.
- In Chapter 12:7 There is a further reference using the same terminology (time, times and an half) within the context of the power of the holy people being scattered. This term is not attached to a fixed period of either years or days either!!
- Rev. 12:14 uses the same terminology (time, times and half a time), with reference to the woman being nourished away from the face of the serpent.
- The 1st of only two references I can find to 1260 days occurs in Revelation. The first is a specific reference to 1260 days with respect to 2 ... above - Rev. 12:6 "And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days." If this is a further revelation on "time, times and a half", in this context, then it turns this period into a very "specific time".
- The second is in Chapter 11:3 regarding the specific length of time the two witnesses prophesy. "And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth."
4. I am totally convinced that we need nothing but the scriptures and the daily news, to determine where we are in God's timetable. It is all there in the scriptures, waiting to be interpreted by unfolding events. Five Doves is a good place to do this.
God bless you all. Annette
